It could take months to see each exhibit on display in the museum -- we'll spend a few hours visiting some of the most well known. We continue to Giza with to visit the Great Pyramid of Cheop, one of the seven wonders of the world. This is the oldest and largest of the pyramids found in Giza.

One that stands out is that of Nefertari, the wife of Ramses II. On to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahri. Later this afternoon our exploration takes us to the Temple of Luxor, built under Amenophis III and Ramses II, primarily to celebrate the Festival of Opet. Then on to the massive temples of Karnak, built over a period of 1300 years.

This morning, travel to Aswan where you board the short flight to Abu Simbel to marvel at the temples and colassal statues of Ramses II and his wife Nefertari. Judging from the position of the temples, the imposing colossi of Ramses II would have greeted travelers as they tried to enter Egypt and sent a message of Egypt's strength. Ramses II chief queen, Nefertari is celebrated in the Temple of Hathor, which Ramses II dedicated to "Nefertari for whose sake the very sun does shine." Return to Cairo this evening, where the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Then, a fun experience awaits at the Giraffe Center where you have an opportunity to feed the Rothschild giraffes. Return to your hotel late this afternoon for an evening at leisure.
Day 8 Fri Nairobi-Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
An early morning departure from Nairobi takes you past the Rift Valley and into the Masai Mara, arriving in time for lunch. Then, it's time for your first game drive. Thanks to the variety of habitats (from rich riverine forests to expansive plains), the Masai Mara is host to a wide array of herbivores, carnivores and birdlife. At last count, there were over 95 species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians along with more than 485 aerial species found in the Masai Mara. Look for the majestic topi as he stands on top of anthills to survey the territory. Black-maned lions find refuge from the hot sun under the shade of baobab trees which dot the horizons. There is no better place for game-viewing.
Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their center.
Accommodation
The lodge has fifty guest cottages divided into two wings to either side of the main public areas. Each of these house two spacious guest rooms with queen and king size beds; mosquito nets; electronic safes; dressing tables; en-suite bathrooms and sheltered verandas that all have views over the gardens and the game reserve beyond.
Six of the cottages each contain two suites with larger bedrooms and bathrooms, and both indoor and outdoor seating areas.
In addition to all of the above, the honeymoon suite has an extremely large, luxuriously appointed bedroom with a king size bed; dressing table and indoor seating area. Its lavishly appointed bathroom contains both a shower and a sunken bath; and its sheltered veranda offers some of the most magnificent views available over the African landscapes below.
