Welcome to South Africa! Upon arrival in Johannesburg you will make a direct connection to the scheduled flight to Livingstone and Victoria Falls. Upon arrival at your lodge, settle in and soak in the surroundings during an afternoon of relaxation.

Stanley Safari Lodge

Set on a hill bordering the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and overlooking unspoilt bush, Stanley Safari Lodge is only 3km from the Victoria Falls. The views are splendid: the spray of the Falls in the distance, the mighty Zambezi river and on top of that yet another beautiful African sunset. From either our main garden, our infinity pool or from the privacy of your room, views are unmatched.

The open-sided Main House has been designed with space and views in mind and has a truly African feel. Enjoy sundowners in the African style lounge, a 3 course dinner in the dining room or spend some quiet time in the library or upper deck discovering the secrets of Africa.

Our private table set-up ensures you can enjoy your dinner from any place you desire. Just pick a spot: on our upper deck, in our wine cellar, outdoors under the stars or in our infinity pool? Or maybe you would like to have a romantic private dinner in the room? It's all possible at Stanley Safari Lodge. And our European-style cuisine with an African twist will make sure it will meet your appetite.

The atmosphere at Stanley Safari Lodge is tranquil and intimate, and with only 10 private cottages or suites we are able to give you an unmatched level of entirely personalized service.

Each and every cottage is individually designed. But what makes Stanley Safari Lodge really special is the open design of many of our rooms: the optimal way to experience the real Africa. Just like Stanley must have done centuries ago...And if you really want to indulge yourself, ask for one of our suites with private plunge pool.

Day 4  Victoria Falls (Livingstone) | Meals: BLD
The day can be scheduled any way you like. We recommend visiting Victoria Falls in the morning. Explorer David Livingstone was led to the Falls in 1854 by the Makokolo who named them Mosi Oa Tunya - "the smoke that thunders." The Falls are over 5500 feet across and more than 300 feet high. Be prepared to get wet, as the spray of over 150 million gallons of water per minute crashing to the gorge below creates a spray that can be seen from more than 18 miles away! This afternoon, enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

Day 5  Victoria Falls-South Luangwa | Meals: BLD
A light aircraft flight takes you into the spectacular South Lluangwa Valley. Your guide awaits at the airport for a scenic drive to your camp overlooking the Luangwa River. You'll have time to settle in and enjoy lunch or afternoon tea (depending on what time you arrive). Later this evening, enjoy a night game drive.

Nkwali Camp

NKWALI CAMP is located on Robin's private land, overlooking the National Park. The land is superb gameviewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grass plains. Elephants often cross the Luangwa, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room. The chalets are cool and spacious, overlooking the river. Access to the park is through the main entrance over the bridge, by boat or by our nearby pontoon. The area is famous for leopard and giraffe sightings.

* 12 guests

* en suite bathrooms

* open all year

* walking, drives, night drives

Day 6  South Luangwa | Meals: BLD
Enjoy a hot bowl of porridge around the campfire at dawn before setting out on your morning game drive or walk. South Luangwa National Park is the largest of four parks in the Luangwa Valley. The valley is a rift valley similar to that in East Africa, although it is believed to be older. Thanks to its rich volcanic soil, the valley has a rich, diversified vegetation - which in turn supports a large number of herbivores. On your game drives or walks, you might spot some of the animals that are unique to this area, like puku, which is one of the smaller types of antelopes. Return to the camp around mid-day for lunch and perhaps a siesta before a night game drive to take a peek into the nocturnal animal world.

Day 7  South Luangwa | Meals: BLD
Choose your activity for today. You might want to take a picnic lunch and explore further afield in the park. Another "special" animal to watch for is the Thornicroft's giraffe. These giraffe differ from the Maasai or Rothschild's giraffe - their legs below their knees are almost white and their faces are quite light or white. The main part of their body is covered in dark patches, while their neck is covered in lighter patches.

Day 9  South Luangwa-Lake Malawi | Meals: BLD
Bid farewell to the South Luangwa Valley as you fly to Lilongwe and then on to Lake Malawi. Malawi is known as the warm heart of Africa. The country is dominated by Lake Malawi, Africa's third largest lake which runs along part of the Great Rift Valley. The most picturesque part of Lake Malawi is in the south where Lake Malawi National Park is home to hundreds of species of fish, including colourful cichlids.

Pumulani

Pumulani is an exclusive beach lodge on the protected shores of Lake Malawi. Opened in July 2008, it is the only luxury accommodation set within Lake Malawi National Park.

Individually designed by the Dutch architect, G. Hooft Graafland, the lodge's ten villas are modern and spacious, their clean lines blending harmoniously with the surrounding nature, spread out along a lush hillside overlooking the lake. Their distinctive grass roofs reflect the heat of the African sun while the simple and elegant interiors ensure comfort and privacy.

Each of the villas is different, varying in size from a generous 125 square metres up to 175 square metres. Each has a large bedroom, a comfortable sitting area and a well equipped bathroom with bathtub, double shower and twin sinks.

The gently curving lines of the villas reflect the patterns of the lake, while interior design details are inspired by the surrounding nature - the beach, the flora and the marine life. The bedrooms open out onto private decking where guests can enjoy the morning sun, while the lounge areas have sliding doors that give access to a private deck with stunning lake views.

Each villa boasts a large bedroom, a spacious living area and a private deck with lake view.

Guests can relax on the sandy beach or at our stylish infinity pool. For those seeking activity, there is waterskiing, sailing, diving, wakeboarding, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing and birdwatching.

At sunset we offer scenic cruises on our traditional wooden dhow, a 40ft sailing boat handbuilt by local craftsmen. It's the perfect way to experience the beauty of Lake Malawi, described by the explorer David Livingstone as The Lake of Stars.

It is only fitting that our superb location and luxurious accommodation should be matched by outstanding dining. Our restaurant serves the finest international cuisine taking advantage of fresh local ingredients. All meals and drinks are included and guests can choose to eat either inside, or outside on our deck overlooking the lake.

We offer an extensive breakfast with an la carte menu, while lunch is made up of light, tasty dishes including a variety of salads, meat and fresh fish. At sunset we offer snacks and drinks followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner. There is also a lakeside bar serving light snacks and drinks, all included.

Children are welcome at Pumulani, but during high season months we have an age limit of seven years.

A stay at Pumulani can be as relaxed or as active as you wish. Our remote beach setting is ideal for those who simply want to soak up the sun and swim in the clear blue waters of the lake - but we also provide an exciting range of activities, many included in the price.

We have our own wooden dhow, a traditional African sailing boat that we use for sunset cruises - a perfect way to end your day. Lake Malawi also boasts some of the most delightful snorkelling and diving in Africa, plus great opportunities for birdwatching.

Many visitors to Lake Malawi are surprised at the quality of the water - it is clean, clear and warm, with no currents and no salt content. This makes it wonderful for swimming, but also ideal for watersports.

At Pumulani, guests can enjoy snorkelling, fishing, sailing and kayaking - all included in the price of your stay. For a small extra charge we also offer waterskiing, wake boarding and fun tube rides.

Pumulani offers a unique activity for guests -- guided walks through some of the local villages. Malawians are renowned for being amongst the most friendly people in Africa and during your stay you will have the opportunity to meet them.

Accompanied by local guides, you will be welcomed into people's homes to see how they work, eat and relax. You will also get an insight into how village life operates, as people explain their traditions and rituals. Village walks are also included in the price of your stay.

Birdwatchers will be entranced by the wealth and variety of birdlife on Lake Malawi. As well as endemic species, it is also possible to see migrating species as they pass north and south. Expert guides can help you identify birds on the lake shore, in the gardens of the lodge and in the wooded hillsides. Birdwatching and guided nature walks are included in our rates.

Day 10 - 12  Lake Malawi | Meals: BLD
Three full days of relaxation - there's no schedule and nothing that you "must do". But there are a lot of activities to keep you as busy as you like! Lake Malawi is the world's most ecologically diverse lake. Its crystal clear waters are home to more than a thousand species of fish, including hundreds of species of colourful cichlids.

The southern part of the lake boasts some the best diving in Africa, with clouds of tropical fish swimming undisturbed amongst lush volcanic islands. Much of the action takes place in the calm shallows, making it excellent for snorkelling. The water is so clear that it is even possible to observe the marine life from aboard a boat or kayak.
