Day 1  Arrive Nairobi
Welcome to Nairobi! Your private vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to the suburbs of Karen and the luxurious Hemingway's Hotel. Your private butler will wisk you to your room with views of the Ngong Hills in the distance. Sleep well.

Hemingways Nairobi

This plantation-style 45-room boutique hotel, beautiful in its symmetry and flooded with natural light, is airy and spacious. Its 80 square metre bedrooms each have a private balcony overlooking the iconic silhouette of the Ngong Hills.

Hallmark Hemingways hospitality, borne out of decades of expertise in welcoming guests to Kenya, makes you the focus of our every design. This new hotel, only a 40-minute drive away from Nairobi's international airport, completes our definitive Collection which encompasses the beach and the bush.

Deep baths, cotton sheets as dense as suede, golden glorious mornings behind the diaphanous netting of your four-poster, armfuls of fragrant velvet roses and blissful seclusion from the world.

Our guest-attention is personal and sincere, offering a seamless service from the moment you touchdown in Kenya to the final adieu of your departure. We're here to enhance your experience and surprise you with detailed care during your stay. Your dedicated butler will know that you prefer Earl Grey to Assam with your scones and Cornish clotted cream, and he'll remember which trousers you like pressed flat and which ones need a central crease.

So while you're reposing in the spa or discussing the delicacies of the a la carte menu with our Executive chef in the private dining room, back in your suite your butler will have dimmed the lights, adjusted your personalized pillows, set out your nightcap... ready for you to return for a peaceful night's sleep.

Day 2  Nairobi | Meals: BD
Your day begins at Karen Blixen's former home, now a museum. The words of her wonderful book, "Out of Africa" come to life as you walk through the home, almost hearing Karen and Denys Finch Hatton laughing over dinner. From here, visit the Kazuri Bead Factory, where single mothers and widows have found employment by creating colorful beads artiscally brought together in necklaces, earings and much more. Fun awaits when you visit the Giraffe Center and have the opportunity to feed these graceful animals from an elevated platform. Make sure your camera has a lot of space to capture the moment you and the giraffes connect! Return to the hotel for lunch on your own. Later this afternoon, you'll take the short drive to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage for an extraordinary visit with the tiny orphans being hand-raised by the dedicated keepers. We have sponsored an elephant on your behalf and as a sponsor you are one of the few people permitted to visit at 5 pm when the small charges are put to bed. There will be more than a few tugs at your heart strings as you watch these tiny elephants interact with their keepers. You will be amazed at the similarities between their behavior and human behavior.

Day 3  Nairobi-Mutamaiyu House (Laikipia) | Meals: BLD
A morning flight takes you to one of the last great wilderness areas in Kenya - the 49,000 acre Mugie Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia. These rugged plains and lush woodlands are home to some of the richest diversities of wildlife on the continent including the big five with the endangered black rhino.
Your visit to Mutamaiyu is special not only because it's one of the few places where you have the opportunity to see black rhino, but also because your accommodations are very much a part of the journey.
Mutamaiyu was built by an American couple who fulfilled their lifelong dream to invest in a wildlife haven and have their own "piece of land" in Africa. Guests are accommodated in four African-style cottages with traditional "makuti" (palm leaves) over a vaulted frame. You'll feel right at home, enjoying the books and music that are part of the family's collection.

Mutamaiyu House

Perched on a panoramic hilltop, with hundreds of miles of sun streaked savannah spread out below, Mutamaiyu is a spectacularly refined retreat in one of Africa's last great wilderness areas -- the 49,000 acre Mugie Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia. These rugged plains and lush woodlands are home to some of the richest diversities of wildlife on the continent including the big five with the endangered black rhino.

Mutamaiyu House has 6 superb luxury cottages, to reserve individually or in exclusivity, built to take full advantage of the spectacular views. This gracious manor house, the private home of Nicky and Gaby Hahn, boasts historical furnishings from the family's art collection, high-ceilinged patios and a large dining room, where arguably Kenya's finest cuisine is served. Private lounges with fireplaces are the perfect place to curl up on a couch with a glass of wine. A flower-lined path leads down to a heated cliff top infinity pool.

Mutamaiyu offers its guests a unique opportunity to live their own African dream: participating in ranch life and vital conservation work, watching ancient Pokot ceremonies, tracking the lions at the centre of the fascinating Laikipia Predator Project as well as memorable game drives will keep even the most intrepid traveller thoroughly fascinated.

Day 4  Mutamaiyu House (Laikipia) | Meals: BLD
There are a variety of choices available to you today, including a tradtional game drive. But, because you are on a private conservancy, there are opportunities for game walks and other interesting activities. If you have never tried a walk, Mugie is the perfect place to start. A walk can last an hour or all day, depending on what you prefer. Walks are tailor-made depending on your level of fitness and what you'd like to see.
You might also want to try a camel safari - which can also be arranged for an hour or for a full day. This is a great way to experience the life of the traiditonal pastoralists of the area.

Day 5  Mutamaiyu House-Lake Naivasha | Meals: BLD
After breakfast, a light aircraft flight takes you to Nairobi where you connect to the flight to Naivasha, where you'll be met and transferred to your luxury lodge set just above the shores of Lake Naivasha. Chui Lodge sits in the private 20,000 acre Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary. As you might expect from it's name (Chui is the Swahili name for leopard), there are good opportunities to see leopard here, along with white rhino, cheetah and more.

The guests of Chui Lodge and Kiangazi House have the opportunity to visit De Ruiter East Africa, Ltd. a subsidiary company of Oserian, which is the largest supplier of fresh flowers to the European Union. On your special visit, you can learn about all of the new flower varieties and the intricate process from the creation of a new breed to their mass production. Be ready - the sheer expanse of flower fields erupting in a riot of colors and heavenly scents will leave you spell bound!

Chui Lodge

Just above the shores of Lake Naivasha set in its own 20,000 acre wildlife sanctuary is Chui Lodge, a veritable oasis in the dry escarpment country of the Rift Valley. With the Mau escarpment providing a dramatic backdrop, the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary plays host to a diverse number of mammalian & avian species.

Guests can roam this wilderness area in 4WD vehicles in complete privacy yet see an array of wildlife difficult to see elsewhere. This includes White Rhino, Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, Eland, Giraffe, Topi, Grevy Zebra, Hartebeest, Beisa Oryx & Greater Kudu amongst many others.

Involving the local community & skilled craftsmen, Chui is crafted from simple bush stone, local Acacia, Leleshwa and Olive woods with a beautiful twisted Marula roof. All the textiles in the Lodge are original batik artworks done on site, whose warm shades enhance the earthy colours of the ochre enriched walls.

Much of the inspiration for the lodges' creation emanated from the Zwager family who live at the stunning Djinn Palace nearby on the shores of Lake Naivasha. History runs through this area from the days of the early settlers and from within the Moorish domes & castellations of the palace came a family commitment to supporting wildlife & conservation in this area.

The eight individual and well-spaced cottages are built in the same fashion as the main building. Each room is uniquely designed with en-suite bathrooms and a delightful veranda with its own view of the sanctuary & Rift escarpment stretching for miles.

The marble basin tops, roaring log fires, artistically decorated windows and magnificent four-poster king-sized beds ensure the essential touch of luxury.

Due to the low capacity of the lodge, attention to detail & individual service is easily achieved, making ones stay a really elevating experience.

A short walk from the main building is the delightful heated swimming pool with great views of the waterhole and the Escarpment.

Outstanding professionally trained chefs deliver an exquisite array of cuisine to suit all tastes; the emphasis is on diverse multi-cultural cuisine, which is made possible with an extensive kitchen and a Tapinyaki hot plate.

Chui Lodge is easily accessible from Nairobi by road in about 1 and half hours along the Nairobi - Nakuru highway.

Chui Lodge has its own airstrip nearby and charter flights from Nairobi take around 20 minutes.

Day 6  Lake Naivasha | Meals: BLD
Enjoy the wide range of activities available at the lodge today. The Wildlife Sanctuary's 20,000 acres was previously a cattle farm. Now it is home to 45 different mammals and is visited by 300 bird species, including the largest population of "Grey Crested Helmet Shrikes" in the world. Species reintroduced to the sanctuary include Grevy Zebra, Greater Kudu and Cheetah, which are now thriving and multiplying. Resident wildlife includes buffalo, giraffe, hyena, ostrich and many species of antelope. Chui is Swahili for leopard, and you are almost certain to see one during your stay.

Day 7  Lake Naivasha-Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
After a leisurely start today, a light aircraft flight takes you to the amazing Masai Mara, Kenya's "crown jewel" of game-viewing areas. A short ride takes you from the airstrip to your luxury lodge on the banks of the Mara River.

Settle in and freshen up before heading out on an afternoon game drive.

Royal Mara Safari Lodge

The Royal Mara Safari Lodge is set on the banks of the Mara River in Kenya's legendary Maasai Mara Ecosystem directly on the wildebeest "Great Migration" route.

Royal Mara offers a blend of the classic tented safari camp with the amenities of a lodge facility -- the result is a unique luxury tented lodge like nothing else in Africa. Only eight large riverfront tented chalets built on raised mahogany platforms, provide safety from hippos, elephants and buffalos roaming through the camp at night in search for food and water. En suite bathrooms with hot & cold running water are fitted with rain showers and flushing toilets.

At the Royal Mara meals are served in diverse spectacular settings, i.e. near a hippo pool, on the open savannah, under the African stars in the bush or privately on your own verandah.

Experienced safari guides will tailor the daily activities to guest's wishes to include day & night game drives, guided bush walks or Maasai traditional village visits. Alternatively you can enjoy a thrilling hot air balloon flight over the Mara plains at dawn.

Spend a little time at Royal Mara and you will experience a feeling of belonging. To be a witness of its personal service, the commitment to the environment and the excitement of this beautiful land certainly provides a sentiment of being privileged.

Day 8  Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
Enjoy your choice of activities today. Game lovers will want to start with a game drive in the Mara North Conservancy - a beautiful wilderness area of more than 32,000 hectares. It is a vital part of the Masai Mara Ecosystem as it forms the north western zone, bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve. Of particular interest here is Leopard Gorge, which has been the thrilling stage for many of the BBC Big Cat Diaries and National Geographic documentaries. At last count, there were at least five prides of lions (totally up to 52 family members!), 7 cheetah and at least six leopards. If you are lucky, you might also spot the highly threatened African Wild Dog.

You might also like to venture out with your experienced guide on a bush walk and learn about the tracks and sounds of the African bush. Thrilling night game viewing is also possible here.
