Your "room" is actually a luxurious tree-house raised about 15 feet from the ground, with uninterruped views of the Ngong Hills. With only 6 tree houses, Ngong accommodates just 24 guests, providing each guest with personalized service and the feeling of being a special guest in someone's home.

Day 4  Nairobi-Lewa Downs | Meals: BLD
Your special journey continues as you take a light aircraft flight to Lewa Downs, a private farm at the foot of Mt. Kenya which has been in the Craig family for generations. You'll stay at the outstanding Lewa Safari Camp set within the 65,000 acre wildlife conservancy of the Lewa Wilderness Trust. After settling in, head out on an afternoon game drive. Lewa Conservancy is home to about 10 percent of Kenya's black rhino population and has the largest single Grey's zebra population in the world.

Lewa Safari Camp

Lewa Downs Conservancy was originally a cattle ranch until the owners of the land set aside 5,000 acres to protect and breed rhinos, whose numbers had dropped precipitously to just 300 in the 1970's. The project was so successful, that by 1995, the Craig family decided to dedicate their entire ranch to the conservation of wildlife.

Lewa Safari Camp, with its lush green lawns, a large pool and tented accommodation, provides visitors with an insight to conservation and wildlife management at its best. Although under the not for profit umbrella, the Safari Camp spares no comforts on the home front. A visit to Lewa provides extraordinary game viewing, comfort, and many varied activities, and also a chance to witness and participate in a successfully working conservation program.

The camp can sleep 26 guests and comprises nine twin rooms, one double and two family/triple tents, all with en suite bathrooms hot and cold running water and flush toilets. Lewas a total success story and guests have an almost exclusive access to an area teeming with a variety of exciting wildlife.

Day 5  Lewa Downs | Meals: BLD
In addition to black rhino and Grevy's zebra, Lewa also hosts about 19 resident lion and almost the same number of transient lions. The conservancy also hosts several species that are found only north of the equator, among them: reticulated giraffe, the Somali ostrich, the Beisa oryx and the gerenuk. In addition to game drives, the camp also offers bush walks which show you a different side of the bush.

Day 6  Lewa Downs-Naivasha | Meals: BLD
After breakfast, a light aircraft flight takes you back to Nairobi where we stop for lunch before continuing on a light aircraft flight to Naivasha. Your destination in Naivasha is the exquisite Chui Lodge set in the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary overlooking the Rift Valley.

Chui Lodge

Just above the shores of Lake Naivasha set in its own 20,000 acre wildlife sanctuary is Chui Lodge, a veritable oasis in the dry escarpment country of the Rift Valley. With the Mau escarpment providing a dramatic backdrop, the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary plays host to a diverse number of mammalian & avian species.

Guests can roam this wilderness area in 4WD vehicles in complete privacy yet see an array of wildlife difficult to see elsewhere. This includes White Rhino, Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, Eland, Giraffe, Topi, Grevy Zebra, Hartebeest, Beisa Oryx & Greater Kudu amongst many others.

Involving the local community & skilled craftsmen, Chui is crafted from simple bush stone, local Acacia, Leleshwa and Olive woods with a beautiful twisted Marula roof. All the textiles in the Lodge are original batik artworks done on site, whose warm shades enhance the earthy colours of the ochre enriched walls.

Much of the inspiration for the lodges' creation emanated from the Zwager family who live at the stunning Djinn Palace nearby on the shores of Lake Naivasha. History runs through this area from the days of the early settlers and from within the Moorish domes & castellations of the palace came a family commitment to supporting wildlife & conservation in this area.

The eight individual and well-spaced cottages are built in the same fashion as the main building. Each room is uniquely designed with en-suite bathrooms and a delightful veranda with its own view of the sanctuary & Rift escarpment stretching for miles.

The marble basin tops, roaring log fires, artistically decorated windows and magnificent four-poster king-sized beds ensure the essential touch of luxury.

Due to the low capacity of the lodge, attention to detail & individual service is easily achieved, making ones stay a really elevating experience.

A short walk from the main building is the delightful heated swimming pool with great views of the waterhole and the Escarpment.

Outstanding professionally trained chefs deliver an exquisite array of cuisine to suit all tastes; the emphasis is on diverse multi-cultural cuisine, which is made possible with an extensive kitchen and a Tapinyaki hot plate.

Chui Lodge is easily accessible from Nairobi by road in about 1 and half hours along the Nairobi - Nakuru highway.

Chui Lodge has its own airstrip nearby and charter flights from Nairobi take around 20 minutes.

Day 7  Naivasha | Meals: BLD
"Chui" is the Swahili word for leopard and you have an excellent chance of seeing leopard in the private sanctuary. You can choose your activities today -- why not take a game drive and a guided bush walk? Chui Lodge is also next to the Oserian Flower Farm, Kenya's largest and most technically advanced flower facility and guests have the unique opportunity to visit the farm and learn about the process of growing beautiful roses, carnations and much more.
