Camp Moremi can be found in the Xaxanaka Region of Moremi Wildlife Reserve, which covers an area of about 4,871 km˛?, as the eastern segment of the Okavango Delta. Moremi combines mopane woodland and acacia forests, floodplains and lagoons and has a vast variety of plant, bird and animal life, creating one of the most magnificent and welcoming wildlife sanctuaries in all of Africa.
Camp Moremi is widely considered a highlight to the itineraries of many visitors to Botswana. It is managed by a dynamic team and boasts a wonderful, caring and professional staff force waiting to welcome your arrival and stay in Moremi.
The main lodge building is raised high above the ground and has expansive wooden decks out the front from which the Xaxanaka lagoon can be observed. The tented rooms fan out to the left and right of the main lodge building and each tented room is also raised above the ground on its own wooden deck which look out into the riparian forest on the edge of the Okavango Delta. In the center of the lodge garden is an expansive boma area from which guest enjoy breakfasts as well as refreshments prior to the departure on activities.
Because of its location within the heart Moremi Game Reserve, exploration of the area for the safari traveler is an exciting combination of guided game drives and thrilling boat excursions into the Okavango Delta.
Camp Moremi peers out beneath giant ebony trees in this unparalleled reserve, which aids in keeping the tents and main areas cool during the searing temperatures. The magnificent Moremi tree lodge is an elegant elevated thatch and timber structure, consisting of a main lounge, wildlife reference library, dining room and cocktail bar.
Other facilities include a secluded swimming pool with sun deck and a thatched boma, where brunch & high tea is served. The elevated viewing hide has unsurpassed views of the Xakanaxa Lagoon, where one can sit back, relax and
simply enjoy this spectacular sight. Camp Moremi accommodates only 22 guests in East African-style safari tents. Each tent is individually situated on raised teak platforms with private adjacent facilities & viewing decks.
Track big game on morning and afternoon game drives by open 4x4 safari vehicle in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, renowned for frequent sightings of lion, leopard & cheetah, as well as wild dog, whose numbers are so rapidly dwindling in other areas. Other game seen in the area are hyena, hippo and the full range of antelope, large and small, including the red lechwe. Alternatively, explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding Okavango channels by motorboat, affording guests exceptional bird-watching opportunities, as birdlife is prolific and varied, ranging from water birds to shy forest dwellers. Before returning to the lodge on your afternoon activity, enjoy sundowners with views of Botswana’s breathtaking sunsets.
Game viewing is at its best in the dry season between July and October and for the keen ornithologist birding can be very rewarding, especially between November to April. The winter months of May to August can be very cold at night, but pleasantly warm, under clear blue skies, during the day. From October until the first rains fall from late November to early December, the weather can be tremendously hot, during both day and night times.
