Welcome to Zambia! After you have cleared customs and immigration, you'll be met and transferred for the short light aircraft flight to Mfuwe International Airport. Your guide awaits at the airport for a scenic drive to your camp overlooking the Luangwa River. You'll have time to settle in and enjoy lunch or afternoon tea (depending on what time you arrive). Later this evening, enjoy a night game drive.
NKWALI CAMP is located on Robin's private land, overlooking the National Park. The land is superb gameviewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grass plains. Elephants often cross the Luangwa, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room. The chalets are cool and spacious, overlooking the river. Access to the park is through the main entrance over the bridge, by boat or by our nearby pontoon. The area is famous for leopard and giraffe sightings.

Day 4 South Luangwa | Meals: BLD
Enjoy a hot bowl of porridge around the campfire at dawn before setting out on your morning game drive or walk. South Luangwa National Park is the largest of four parks in the Luangwa Valley. The valley is a rift valley similar to that in East Africa, although it is believed to be older. Thanks to it's rich volcanic soil, the valley has a rich, diversified vegetation - which in turn supports a large number of herbivores and you might spot some of the animals that are unique to this area, like puku, which is one of the smaller types of antelopes. Return to the camp around mid-day for lunch and perhaps a siesta before a night game drive to take a peek into the nocturnal animal world.

Choose your activity for today. You might want to take a picnic lunch and explore further afield in the park. Another "special" animal to watch for is the Thornicroft's giraffe. These giraffe differ from the Maasai or Rothschild's giraffe - their legs below their knees are almost white and their faces are quite light or white. The main part of their body is covered in dark patches, while their neck is covered in lighter patches.

Day 7 South Luangwa-Lower Zambezi | Meals: BLD
After breakfast you will be transferred to Mfuwe Airport for your flight to Royal Airstrip in Lower Zambezi National Park. Your camp looks onto the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers. After lunch, you'll have a choice between a game drive or game viewing on the waters of the Zambezi River. Bird-lovers will appreciate time by the water, as many of the more than 350 species of birds have been recorded along the river. Look for kingfishers, darters and fish eagles.
Chongwe River Camp is situated on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers, directly opposite Mana Pools.
The Chongwe River is the boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park, a four thousand square kilometre pristine sanctuary, teeming with game, and said to be one of the continent's most picturesque wilderness areas.
A policy of non-intrusive enjoyment of wildlife and low environmental impact has preserved the area and its wildlife. The Lower Zambezi has become one of southern Africa's premier destinations for peaceful game viewing and unparalleled tiger fish angling.
The camp itself looks onto the confluence of the two rivers and the mountains of the escarpment to the north.
Chongwe River Camp is a family owned and run business dedicated not only to providing your dream safari experience but also hospitality that can only be found in a home.
Under a complete canopy of huge Winterthorn Acacias, the camp occupies an unrivalled location, used twice by David Livingstone on his travels, as did Courtney Selous, when he hunted in this, his favourite wilderness!
The chalets are large, well appointed Mulati tents under thatch, with a luxury open air bathroom on suite. Situated under a canopy of Albida thorns and surrounded by cool lawns, they command fabulous views over the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers. Each tent sleeps two people, in twin or double beds.
The Bathrooms are an experience on their own. Shower under the stars or the early morning sunshine. All fittings are made from natural materials found near the lodge.
Our chef will prepare a wide variety of dishes, which are served at the outdoor dining table. Dining al fresco in the gloaming of an African night, under a canopy of stars with the sounds of the bush as a backdrop, is truly an unforgettable experience!

Day 8 Lower Zambezi | Meals: BLD
The Zambezi is home to one of the world's premiere game fish, the tiger. The variety in the Zambezi, "Hydrocynus vittatus", can grow up to 10 -12 Kg and is a superb fighter. Why not try your hand at catching one today - but pictures only, as it is strictly catch and release for these fish. Or, you might opt for a morning or afternoon canoe trip - one of the best ways to observe big game. And you will certainly find it, as buffalo and elephant can often be found grazing on the islands in the middle of the river.

You can choose to relax and enjoy the surroundings today or partake in a bird walk. If you enjoyed fishing for the Zambezi Tiger, you might want to try your hand at it again. Or, you could opt for a tour to nearby Chobe National Park in neighboring Botswana. The choice is yours (some activities are optional and at an additional fee.)
Islands of Siankaba
The Islands of Siankaba Lodge is the most classic of forested retreats. Siankaba's six secluded chalets, each with its unique and individually different view of the mighty Zambezi River, are linked by a foot bridge to a haute cuisine restaurant. All of this is located on two untouched islands in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River situated between the 'Seventh Wonder of the Natural World', the magnificent Victoria Falls, and the world famous Chobe National Park.
The Islands of Siankaba have been developed as a luxurious five star lodge, exclusively sleeping just twelve guests. The two islands are linked by a suspension bridge leading to an overhead walkway in the tree canopy which connects the elevated chalets.
