This remote and small camp lies within the National Park and enjoys a stunning location on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River. A grove of mahogany trees shade the large custom-made tents. From the thatched dining room and bar, guests can watch the elephants, hippo and antelope on the riverbank. Nearby there is a spectacular lagoon, Buca Buca, where a whole morning can be spent quietly sitting while the game comes down to feed and drink. With the camp being remote and small, we have these scenes to ourselves.

Day 4 South Luangwa | Meals: BLD
The South Luangwa is considered one of the best game viewing areas in Africa. The camp's vantage point on the Luangwa River affords excellent game viewing from right inside the camp. Both game walks and game drives are available here, and the choice is yours. You might want to look out for the puku - a member of the antelope family that looks somewhat like an impala, but probably more closely resembles a waterbuck. They are rarely seen outside of Zambia.

Day 6 South Luangwa | Meals: BLD
Your final day in South Luangwa. Be sure to take advantage of a game walk experience, as your perspective on foot is very different from that in a vehicle. Night game drives are fascinating in South Luangwa and you have a pretty good chance of seeing the elusive leopard. Look for the pennant-winged nightjar - a nocturnal insect-eating bird. Breeding males give off a ghost-like appearance at night, as streamers run off their wings.

Day 8 Lower Zambezi National Park | Meals: BLD
Zambia was one of the pioneer countries for "bush walks" and you shouldn't miss the chance to take at least one bush walk on your safari. Your camp is also ideally suited for a water-safari. Pontoon boats with canopies to protect from the sun give you a great vantage point to view game and also get up close to river life.

Day 9 Lower Zambezi-North Kafue | Meals: BLD
A light aircraft flight takes you into North Kafue. Kafue National Park is over 8,600 square miles and one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa. Your camp for the next four nights is located in the extreme north of the park on the Busanga Plains. After you have settled in, enjoy a game-viewing activity of your choice this afternoon.
Busanga Bush Camp lies in the heart of the Busanga Plains, a wildlife paradise that is situated in the northern region of the Kafue National Park, one of the largest national parks in Africa. The Busanga Plains covers an area of approximately 750 sq km and is one of Zambia's most significant wetland resources, one of the few areas in the world that remain untouched by development and human activity.
Busanga Bush Camp in the north-western section of the Busanga is about as 'wild' as you can get in today's world: an unfenced mosaic of expansive grassy seasonal floodplains and "dambos" (open grassy areas that sometimes will fill up with rainwater). It can accommodate 6 guests in 3 well-appointed tents with wall-to-wall views of the spectacular wildlife that frequents the plain in front of the camp. The dining and bar area is under the shady canopy of majestic trees. Generally, dinners are served under the stars overlooking the floodplains, or indoors.
Activities include game drives, walking safaris and night drives, led by qualified guides who are extremely knowledgeable about the area and its wildlife. This camp is perfectly situated to see large numbers of plains game and their predators - including some of the best lion and cheetah viewing in Africa!
For those interested in birding, the park boasts 491 species, and include such specials as Wattled and Crowned Cranes, Fulleborn's and Rosy-throated Longclaws, Lanner Falcon and large flocks of Open-billed and Yellow-billed Storks.

Chiawa Tented Camp
Resting peacefully inside the National Park, on the river bank, in a grove of mahogany and acacia trees, the lodge is constructed essentially of natural materials, and is designed to ensure its idyllic setting can be fully appreciated.
All tents are under shade, have en-suite facilities with hot & cold running water, twin or double beds, insect screens and solar powered lighting.
Only 16 guests can be accommodated in 8 well- appointed safari tents, each on a raised timber deck with private veranda. Access paths to the tents run through a grove of Mahogany trees behind them, maximizing privacy.
The spacious lounge and bar area has an observation platform built into its roof, providing one of the best views in the valley. Of course the dining area also looks out onto the river and the animals which regularly come to drink and feed at and near the lodge.
Enjoy barbeques under the stars on our al-fresco dining veranda, while your hosts oversee your comfort and the preparation of Chiawa's renowned cuisine.
After dinner, retire to the campfire and enjoy a cocktail or two while taking in the sounds and magic of the African night.

Busanga Plains Tented Camp
