Magnificent Gorillas

4 days · from $2,095

Roughly half of the world's remaining Mountain Gorillas live in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. While Bwindi hosts more than 120 species, the magestic Mountain Gorillas are the stars. About 340 mountain gorillas make their home in the forest. These magnificent primates make their home high in the mountains, up to 13,000 feet. Male mountain gorillas can weigh up to 400 pounds and reach 6 feet tall. They generally live in groups of several females wth their young and one dominant adult male - known as the "silverback" because of the patch of silver hair on his back and hips. They live on a diet of mostly leaves and shoots. Sadly, they are a critically endangered species, with their biggest threat being man. Thanks to efforts of a wide range of conservation organizations the numbers of gorillas in the wild are slowly rising. This flying safari from Entebee can easily be added to any East Africa safari or expand your time in Uganda and add Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Park.
