Day 8  Nairobi-Serengeti | Meals: BD
Your drive takes you to the Tanzania border today, where you continue into the town of Arusha in time to take the afternoon flight to Tanzania's most famous park, the Serengeti. Camp vehicles meet you upon arrival with picnic lunches. Game drive your way back to the camp. Later, after settling in, enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Olakira Camp

Olakira Camp is a mobile tented camp that moves through the southern and central Serengeti, in areas of great wildlife concentration. From December to March, the camp is in the southern Serengeti, or Ndutu area. Here are the famous Serengeti plains - endless grasslands where lion and cheetah find perfect hunting grounds. The December to March period is the magical time when the Great Migration takes over the Ndutu plains to give birth to the next generation.

The camp moves up to the central Serengeti from June to November, where the concentration of animals is denser at this time. The central Serengeti valley offers varied landscapes and a very high density of game year round. During these months, you can sneak up on the animals from above with a balloon flight over the Serengeti from Olakira Camp.

The Serengeti hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in the world, and is home to one of the great wonders in the world, the Great Migration. Over a million wildebeest and some 600,000 zebra move through the eco-system, with lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, wild dog and crocodile making sure only the strongest survive. The sheer volume combined with the daily dramas of life and death make this an experience that will be the star of the stories you tell years and years from now.

Olakira Camp is an intimate mobile tented camp of 6 guest tents and 2 common area tents. 'Olakira' means 'star' in Maasai and with its sister camp, Sayari, on the Mara River, they cover the best areas of the vast Serengeti National Park. Whilst the mobile nature of Olakira Camp allows it to move to the densest concentrations of wildlife, it manages to surprise with its spaciousness and comfort. Large beds, wide private verandas, convenient bathroom facilities, a great lounge area and wonderful food served under the Serengeti stars ensure total well-being.

A stay in Olakira Camp is not about 5 star luxury though. It's about something more than that. Being in the middle of this wonderful spectacle, with wild animals roaming around camp at night, is a dream come true to even the most experienced of travelers.

Guest tents

The guest tents are spacious and comfortable with large king-size or twin beds and convenient bathrooms. Each tent has its own private verandah with an amazing view overlooking the Serengeti. Bathrooms are extremely comfortable for a mobile camp, with shower, wash basin and an environmentally friendly toilet.

Common area

Central to the camp are two common tents that are open to the surrounding nature. When the camp is occupied by multiple small groups, one tent will serve as a dining tent and the other one as a lounge, where drinks are served and safari stories are shared. When a larger group (e.g., 8 people) visits the camp, one of the common tents can be made the exclusive lounging/dining tent for that group. The other tent will then be set up as a lounging/dining tent for the other guests. Fantastic meals are served in the dining tent or in a private location: your own veranda or under the Serengeti stars.

Day 9  Serengeti | Meals: BLD
You cannot describe the Serengeti without using a superlative. The sheer size and expanse of the plains spread out around you is awesome and the number of animals as far as the eye can see is simply amazing. The Serengeti is perhaps most famous for the annual migration, but game viewing here is superb year round. Plains game, big cats and hundreds of bird species are all here.

Day 12  Ngorongoro-Tarangire | Meals: BLD
Your drive takes you south of Lake Manyara into Tarangire National Park today. The Tarangire River flowing through the park attracts large concentrations of wildlife in their search for water. Settle into your tented camp sitting in the midst of a prime migratory area before heading out on an afternoon game drive.

Olivers Camp

Oliver's Camp is situated in the remote south-eastern part of Tarangire National Park, in the middle of Tarangire's unspoilt wilderness. The camp is ideally placed to access the yearly migrations of wildlife, and to view impressive concentrations at waterholes and in the spectacular Silale swamps. This area offers the best chance of seeing lion, leopard and cheetah and, especially during the dry season, the swamps are filled with elephant, buffalo and zebra. The camp is the perfect base to explore the busier baobab-country in the north of the park, but at the end of the day, guests return to the absolute exclusivity of Oliver's Camp.

Walking safaris and off-road driving are possible in the area around Oliver's Camp, thus ensuring you discover Tarangire in an intense and unforgettable way.

Located in the middle of the Tarangire wilderness, Oliver's Camp has one of the most wonderful settings one could imagine and offers an unparalleled bush experience. From the camp, a much wider eco-system can be overlooked: the Ngorongoro highlands, the Great Rift Valley, the Lame Manyara region and of course Tarangire NP itself. There is no better location from which to understand the breathtaking beauty and at the same time the complexity and ultimate fragility of this unique eco-system.

Oliver's Camp's crew has been a team for many years and as a result, a stay in camp feels like joining into a warm family. A family that will not only prepare amazing meals for you, but one that will also share with you a deeper knowledge of this stunning national park and its inhabitants. Naturalist guides will not only be able to find you the lion prides, but will also be able to tell you about the different family members of the lion prides, their characters and their habits. Walking safaris are the specialty of the camp, and especially on walking safaris, the depth of knowledge and experience of the camp naturalist guides makes the experience one to never forget. Research outpost from long gone times meets luxury and refined dining.

The camp features only 8 beautifully furnished guest tents. Solid wooden furniture, beautiful cloth and gorgeous warm showers that can be taken under the Tarangire sky. Every evening, guests relax or read in the lounge and library tent, or drink sundowners at the fireplace, from which superb views of landscape and sunset can be enjoyed.

"This is how Africa was meant to be", has been the comment of more than one visitor to Oliver's Camp and the camp's crew welcomes many return visitors every season. .

The range of activities on offer at Oliver's Camp is unique for a camp inside a Tanzanian National Park. Off-road driving makes wildlife drives more intense and interesting and allows you to get closer to the action. Walking and fly camping add another unique element to a safari that is hard to find in other parts of Tanzania. The park's stunning natural beauty is ideal for wildlife and nature photography.

Game drives from Oliver's Camp are usually carried out in open vehicles, giving a feeling of absolute freedom. Off-road driving, allowed only in the remote areas of the park, gets you closer to nature and wildlife - from spider to lion - and you'll discover rare and interesting species that usually go unnoticed when driving on dedicated roads.

Walking is the absolute specialty of Oliver's Camp. The privilege of walking in these prime natural areas gives you exhilarating feeling of adventure. Although you'll usually get close to large mammals such as elephant, giraffe, buffalo or even lion, the experienced naturalist guides of Oliver's Camp avoid confrontations with animals (watching is not the same as disturbing!) and an armed national park ranger accompanies every walk.

Day 13  Tarangire | Meals: BLD
