A light aircraft flight takes you south to Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park may be best known for its herds of elephants and the ground-breaking research begun by Cynthia Moss in the early 1970's. A light aircraft flight takes you to Nairobi where you stop for lunch before continuing by light aircraft to Samburu National Reserve. The broad Uaso Nyiro River (which means "river of brown water") cuts through the reserve providing life to this dry, arid environment. As you game drive along the river, watch the tree branches carefully, as a leopard may be taking a siesta in one of them.
Serena Samburu is situated on the wooded banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, in the heart of the rugged, semi-arid Samburu Game Reserve. The park preserves the natural balance that existed betwen the local Samburu tribes and the wildlife which ranges from elephant, buffalo and lion to a wide range of birdlife. A highlight awaits you this morning, as you descend through the early morning mists 2,000 feet to the crater floor for a full day of game viewing in what has been called the world's largest zoo without bars, contained in a natural amphitheater.

As if in a land before time, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is built into the rim of a dormant and collapsed volcano (known as a caldera), the plant and ivy-covered native stone blending masterfully with its surroundings. Close by lies the Olduvai Gorge, the "birthplace of man". Drive through the highlands today, stopping at a local village. Enjoy a traditional village lunch before continuing to Lake Manyara.
