Then it's on to the Giraffe Center for a fun encounter with the Rothschild giraffes. Just hold a food pellet in your hand and you'll soon come eye to eye with one of these graceful ungulates. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4  Nairobi-Samburu | Meals: BLD
A scheduled light aircraft flight takes you north to Samburu and your tented camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Sometimes called the "brown river", the Ewaso Nyiro River cuts through the reserve, attracting a rich variety of wildlife in search of water and shade. Leopard are frequently spotted in Samburu, so keep a look out!

Elephant Bedroom Camp



Elephant Bedroom Camp offers luxury in a setting of breath taking beauty. It is set along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River and shaded by doum palms and other trees that make up this green belt of riverine forest. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives today. Of particular interest in Samburu are the indigenous species such as the reticulated giraffe, the Grevy's zebra (look for the "oversized" ears) and the gerenuk which stands on its hind legs to feed from the top branches of bushes and trees.

After breakfast a scheduled light aircraft flight takes you back to Nairobi where you stop for lunch before continuing by air to the Great Rift Valley and your lodge in the southern part of Lake Nakuru National Park.

Spend the entire day game viewing in ecologically diverse Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is one of the soda lakes found in the Great Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru is perhaps best known for the site of hundreds of thousands of pink flamingoes nesting along the shores. The park was originally gazetted as a bird sanctuary in 1960, but upgraded to a reserve in 1968. Lake Nakuru is one of the best places to spot rhino and the Rothschild giraffe, both of which are protected here.

You're up early today to experience the sunrise on the plains. The plains game are just getting started too, so it's a perfect time to see the savannahs come alive with wildlife.     Day 9  Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
    Every superlative you've heard about the Masai Mara is true - and more. As you embark on morning and afternooon game drives today, you're sure to cross off most of the Big Five and more from your game viewing list. The Masai Mara is the northern extension of the Serengeti and throughout the year you'll find massive amounts of game dotting the expansive plains. Wildebeest are the dominant inhabitants of the plains and where there are plains game there are predators -- lion and cheetah are frequently spotted and if you are lucky, you might come across the ellusive leopard too. Bird watchers will enjoy the more than 450 species found in the Mara, including secretary birds, hornbills, long-crested eagles and more.

    Day 10  Masai Mara-Nairobi-Depart | Meals: BD
    You're up early today to experience the sunrise on the plains. The plains game are just getting started too, so it's a perfect time to see the savannahs come alive with wildlife. After lunch, a light aircraft flight returns you to Nairobi where you can relax and refresh in our partner lounge. Later, enjoy dinner before transferring to the airport for your flight home.
