Day 3 Sun/Tue Lake Manyara-Serengeti (BLD) This morning, enjoy game viewing in the nearby park. Watch for hippo in the Simba River, elephants in the forest and Cape buffalo on the open plains at Mahali pa Nyati, which means "the place of the buffalo" in Swahili. Birdwatchers, you have more than 400 species of birds to delight you. Return to the lodge for lunch and then continue to the Serengeti and the Serengeti Serena Lodge. Day 4 Mon/Wed Serengeti (BLD) The name Serengeti is derived from the Maasai word “siringet”, which means endless plains. Game-viewing is exciting year-round, as the Serengeti supports large prides of lions as well as a healthy amount of leopards. A full day in the Serengeti allows time for both morning and afternoon game drives. Day 5 Tue/Thu Serengeti-Ngorongoro (BLD) After breakfast, game drive across the plains stopping for a picnic lunch. Then continue on to your lodge on the Ngorongoro Conservation area and your lodge where the afternoon is at leisure. Day 6 Wed/Fri Ngorongoro (BLD) Supporting more than 25,000 mammals, the Ngorongoro Crater is home to a wide variety of both herbivores and carnivores. Zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and eland are abundant. With such a rich food supply, carnivores like lion, hyenas and leopard are also at home in the crater. Watch for the kori bustard (the world's largest flying bird) to see if you can spot its elaborate territorial display during breeding season. Enjoy a morning on the crater floor, returning to your lodge for lunch. It's just 60 miles long and 20 miles wide, with beautify sandy beaches along its coast. Upon arrival you'll be transferred to your resort on the beach, where the next three nights are at leisure to relax, swim in the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and explore on your own. Blue Bay Beach Resort Day 8 & 9 Fri & Sat/Sun & Mon Zanzibar (BD Daily) The days are at leisure to relax and do nothing - or to explore on your own. If you like, we can arrange some optional tours, like a visit to Jozani Forest, home of the rare Red Colobus Monkey. Or perhaps a tour of the Spice Plantations to learn about the history of the spice trade which brought the Sultans of Oman - and the beginning of the slave trade - to Zanzibar. Stone Town is always fascinating and a walk through the town gives you an opportunity to see the House of Wonders and Dr. Livingstone's House. We're happy to make suggestions. Blue Bay Beach Resort Day 10 Sun/Tue Zanzibar-Dar Es Salaam-Depart (B) Your wonderful journey comes to an end today as you take a scheduled light aircraft flight back Dar Es Salaam where you connect to your flight home.

All the accommodations were out of this world; each one was so luxurious. ...it was nice to have guides know where we needed to go so we were not trying to figure it all out on our own.
