Day 3 Nairobi-Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to the local airport to board your light aircraft flight to the world famous Masai Mara. Camp staff await your arrival at the airport and take you straight to your luxury camp on the banks of the Masai Mara. Since its opening in 1972, Governors has set the standard for luxury camps in the Masai Mara. You might also recognize the name as the highly acclaimed BBC series, Big Cat Diary is filmed in the area around Governors Camp. After time to settle into your tent, enjoy lunch and an afternoon game drive.
The setting is magical. So much so that almost a century ago it was reserved, exclusively, for Kenya’s colonial Governors and their royal visitors. Now Governors’ Camp nestles in the forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, it’s waters teeming with hippo and crocodile.
Some of the 38 tents line the riverbank, with uninterrupted views over the Mara River, others have views across the sweeping plains. Created in 1972 Governors’ Camp set new standards in luxury for a tented camp. Today it’s still Africa’s best. Everything is under canvas, all tents have en-suit bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets.
Each morning a breakfast feast is prepared over blazing coals: mountains of bacon, eggs the way you like them, fresh milk flown-in daily, hot-baked croissants, exotic fruits, and freshly-brewed Kenya coffee.
Lunch, like breakfast is a buffet, this time roast meats hot and cold, fresh salads and delicious desserts. Both meals are served on the shady riverbank with views across the Mara’s plains.

Day 4 Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
This is Big Cat country and one of the best places to spot lion, cheetah and even leopard. The expansive savannahs surrounding your camp will be filled with plains game like zebra, wildebeest, impala, gazelle, giraffe and much more. Bird life is prolific and with the help of your guide's keen eyesight, you should be able to spot many of the more than 400 species recorded in the Mara. Your full day here gives you time to enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, as well as the surroundings of your camp.

Day 5 Masai Mara-Mfangano Island | Meals: BLD
A light aircraft flight takes you to Mfangano Island on the shores of Lake Victoria. This lush paradise is a perfect spot to escape let yourself be immersed in the sheer tranquility of your surroundings. There is no schedule in camp - you can decide what you'd like to do as the day unfolds. Lake Victoria is the second largest freshwater lake in the world and it is also the source of the Nile River.
Lapped by the waters of Lake Victoria, shaded by giant fig trees, and lost to the world, Mfangano Island Camp is an oasis of tranquillity, an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
The island has just one road and no other hotels to disturb the peace.
The only way to reach Mfangano Island is by light aircraft, an adventure in itself. You land on a dusty airstrip, then it?s a short ride by speedboat to the camp.
Your first view is of beautiful gardens set on a secluded bay. Lawns hug the waterline, flowerbeds and rock gardens surround the camp. Enormous boulders sit at the water?s edge, a perch for cormorants or giant monitor lizards to sun themselves.
All the buildings are in the local Luo tribal style, walls of smoothed mud and clay, rooves of thatch and banana leaf - cool and airy. The dining room and lounge are fanned by breezes from the lake.
There are just six rooms. Each set close to the waters edge, decorated with local handicrafts. Bathrooms with modern fittings are finished in local stone. At night the sound of waves will lull you to sleep.
If all you desire is to laze in the sunshine, each room has it?s own private veranda with sunbeds. Or there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied.
The food?s as fresh as can be, fished from the lake (hopefully by you!) or picked fresh from the island?s vegetable gardens and orchards.

Nile Perch can grow up to 6 feet and weigh up to 300 pounds. They're great sport fish to catch as well as to eat.
