Day 13 Johannesburg-Victoria Falls | Meals: B
Your journey takes you into Zimbabwe today and the famous Victoria Falls Hotel -- the Grand Dame of hotels in Victoria Falls. Stanley Livingstone was not the first person to see the Falls, but he was the first to call them Victoria Falls -- after his Queen. After settling into your hotel, you might have a cocktail on one of the verandahs and listen to the rush of the water cascading over the nearby Falls.
The Victoria Falls Hotel is a grand Edwardian-era hotel that was built in the early 1900s ,during the time when Cecil Rhodes famously attempted to link Cape Town to Cairo by rail. A ten-minute stroll, via a private footpath, leads to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World: the Victoria Falls. The hotel is surrounded by carefully tended tropical gardens, lily ponds and century-old shade trees. The guestroomsare traditional in style. The panoramas also figure prominently during afternoon tea, which is served on Stanley Terrace, overlooking the Victoria Falls Bridge that links Zimbabwe to Zambia.
