Your Botswana safari begins today as you arrive in Maun in time for the light aircraft flight to Kanana camp, set in the Kanana Concession. The annual floods transform parts of this concession into a true water paradise, offering guests the best of both worlds. At certain times of the year guests can experience magnificent game sightings during drives as well as the unique experience of exploring the delta's beautiful waterways by boat. You may actually enjoy the breathtaking spectacle of the water visibly rising around the camp's raised teak decks.

Your luxury camp has eight spacious safari tents, well spaced from each other to afford privacy, yet remain within comfortable distance from the main camp area.

Kanana Camp

Kanana is a hidden jewel set on the Xudum River in the southwest of the Okavango Delta. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palms, figs, ebony and knobthorn, and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The nature of the habitat means it is the perfect place to experience the diversity of species found within the Okavango Delta.

At Kanana guests are accommodated in eight spacious, twin-bedded safari units, set on raised teak decks, offering breathtaking views across the waterways. Dependent on the annual floods, the level of water transforms this dry camp into a true water experience and in the early months of the year you may actually enjoy the visible spectacle of the water rising around the camp. All tents offer en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. The tents are well spaced affording privacy, whilst still being within comfortable distance from the central dining and lounge area.

A wide variety of activities is available at Kanana and the focus of activities varies with the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta, your Professional guide will assist you in planning your days to best explore the area. Game drives in specially designed vehicles in the morning and late afternoon, into the evening on night drives. Birding is spectacular, and Kanana hosts a seasonal heronry that teems with activity, a Kanana highlight which converts all visitors to avid ‘twitchers'. Guided bush walks are highly recommended as is fishing for tilapia, African pike and sharptooth catfish.

Okuti comprises of five twin-bedded mosasa ( ancient tribal word for house of reeds), each with en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. The honeymoon unit features a double bed, bathtub, indoor and outdoor shower. An additional two family units consist of two bedrooms which share spacious bathroom facilities - ideal for families in this child-friendly camp.

Your light aircraft flight takes you to your last stop today - the classic and intimate Shinde Camp nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta.

Each of Shinde's eight classic safari tents are strategically positioned to offer splendid views either of the Okavango Delta's mysterious waterways or open grasslands. The camp's unique main area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees.

Day 6  Shinde | Meals: BLD
Shinde offers both water and land activities year round. Motoroboats or mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Game drives provide opportunities to soak in the teeming wildlife in the area. Guided walks are also available. Walking in Africa's wild areas is the only way to truly appreciate the natural environment. While game viewing from a vehicle allows one to see more animals as you traverse much greater distances and get much closer to animals safely, there is nothing as awe inspiring and humbling as observing wild animals on foot. Many smaller species of plants and insects, tracks and signs are all easily missed when in a vehicle. The slow pace of the walk and interpretative skills of your guide will open your eyes to a new and fascinating world. Game walks are not hikes; they are slow comfortable strolls meant to provide you with a chance to experience the wilderness at a natural pace.and if you like to fish - why not try your hand at fishing for talapia and tigerfish?

Day 5  Shinde | Meals: BLD
Your light aircraft flight takes you to your last stop today - the classic and intimate Shinde Camp nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta.

Each of Shinde's eight classic safari tents are strategically positioned to offer splendid views either of the Okavango Delta's mysterious waterways or open grasslands. The camp's unique main area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees.

Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate, classic camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon, which simply teems with animal and birdlife. The camps unique main area comprises a multi-tiered dining room and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees.

Shinde comprises eight twin-bedded classic safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Accommodation is generally twin share on comfortable three quarter beds, however double accommodation is available on request.

Every possible comfort has been catered for - from generated electricity and a private viewing deck through to a handy flashlight! Each tent is strategically positioned to offer splendid views, whether across the Okavango Deltas mysterious waterways or open grasslands.

Motorboats or Mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Game drives are conducted by a personal guide in comfortable, specially designed game drive vehicles. For the more adventurous, guided walks are also available while fishing enthusiasts will enjoy fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tigerfish.

Day 6  Shinde | Meals: BLD
Shinde offers both water and land activities year round. Motoroboats or mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta. Game drives provide opportunities to soak in the teeming wildlife in the area. Guided walks are also available. Walking in Africa's wild areas is the only way to truly appreciate the natural environment. While game viewing from a vehicle allows one to see more animals as you traverse much greater distances and get much closer to animals safely, there is nothing as awe inspiring and humbling as observing wild animals on foot. Many smaller species of plants and insects, tracks and signs are all easily missed when in a vehicle. The slow pace of the walk and interpretative skills of your guide will open your eyes to a new and fascinating world. Game walks are not hikes; they are slow comfortable strolls meant to provide you with a chance to experience the wilderness at a natural pace.and if you like to fish - why not try your hand at fishing for talapia and tigerfish?

Day 7  Shinde-Maun-Depart | Meals: B
Your journey ends far too quickly today as your light aircraft flight brings you back to Maun where you begin your journey home. Or, why not extend your tour into South Africa or Zambia?
