Leroo La Tau is built above the Boteti River on cliffs over 15m high, this gives guests a raised vantage point resulting in numerous spectacular wildlife sightings.
Of particular interest at Leroo La Tau is the Rhino Project. In 2001, as part of an initiative to put rhinos back in their natural habitat in Botswana, there was a collaboration to assist in the reintroduction of four White and four Black rhino to the Mombo area on Chief’s Island in the Okavango Delta. A further 22 White rhino were subsequently introduced, and successful breeding has ensured there are an estimated 38 White rhino - and the four introduced Black rhino – living in the wild as a result of this project.
Leroo La Tau also boasts Chobe Bushbuck, Leopard, Brown and Spotted Hyena, Impala, Kudu, Jackal, Porcupines, Genets, Caracal to name but a few. Most unique however, are the Crocodile and an amazing pod of Hippo which have survived in extremely adverse conditions for over 12 years, making this area of the Boteti a unique haven for large herds and predators alike.

Day 4 Leroo La Tau (Makgadikgadi Pans) (BLD)
The Makgadikgadi National park winds itself from the banks of the Boteti River through its interior of scrubland and grasslands ending at the extraordinary salt pans in the east. The Makgadikgadi pans are the remains of a great lake that once occupied a significant portion of Northern Botswana covering approximately 60 000 square Kilometers. Due to the absence of a water outlet there was a considerable amount salt residue left behind after dramatic climate change caused the drying up of this once majestic lake. The results are salt deposits which are now a well-known characteristic of this region. The Boteti River last flowed in 1993 however after the rainy season this area explodes with life as wildlife congregate around precious water holes and herds of zebra and wildebeest graze to their hearts content on the wide open green grassland plains.
